Gillian Budden is a fully qualified and accredited Satyananda YOGA® teacher with more than 10 years experience teaching pre-natal yoga classes. The Satyananda style of yoga can be easily adapted to suit the needs of all pregnant women. Yoga encourages women to care for themselves and their baby and may also assist in relieving some of the discomforts associated with pregnancy.

The physical practices gently stretch and tone the muscles and stimulate circulation. The breathing practices are used to increase energy, calm the body and the mind and balance the emotions. The classes include a deep relaxation practice known as yoga nidra, which is a systematic method of relaxing the whole body and the  mind. This practice is rejuvenating and promotes a sense of well-being in the mother and her baby.

The classes include breathing practices and physical postures which may be helpful during the birthing process. Students are given detailed handouts about the practices taught in the classes and information about preparation for birthing. A wide range of books is available for students to borrow during the term.

The classes are held in a fully equipped yoga studio which allows pregnant women to be as comfortable as possible. The pre-natal yoga classes are suitable for women who are 12 weeks or more into their pregnancy.  Classes are held on Mondays  (5.45 - 7.25 pm) during the yoga term.   Gillian is happy to answer any enquiries that you may have about the pre-natal yoga classes.
